2K board feet of round timber confiscated in Josefina

JOSEFINA, Zamboanga del Sur (April 11, 2018) – The Personnel of Josefina Municipal Police Station (MPS) together with the team from Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of this province conducted a joint operation on illegal logging at Mini Lumber Yard own by Sonny Sumader located Barangay Dawa in this municipality.

Josefina MPS led by Acting Chief of Police Senior Inspector Joel Castillo Adajar disclosed that the operation conducted Sunday at 5:36pm resulted to the successful confiscation of 102 pieces of round timber logs which is equivalent to Two Thousand (2000) board feet more or less.

Senior Inspector Adajar said that confiscated round logs are in assorted dimensions of Teak-8, narra-4, bagalnga-10, mahogany-80 log bolt with estimated amount market value of Php80,000 pesos and Kubota Mini Sawmill machine worth Php35,000 pesos.

The said Lumberyard has no permit presented, PENRO official said. Confiscated lumber and machine are properly documented by the PENRO personnel and witnessed by Barangay Captain Albertson Mag-usara and now under the custody of PENRO for proper disposition. (By JONG D. CADION)
